NTLite

Customization is one of the main advantages of the Windows operating systems, but if you want more control over its behavior, you would need to know how to dive deep in its menu systems. An easier way is to use third party applications. NTLite is an excellent example of such applications. It gives you the possibility of enabling and disabling numerous features without any effort.

NTLite is available in free and paid versions. It works on Windows 7 and Windows 8 and you can also find a lite version for Windows XP. It doesn't take more than a minute to install the software and the operation does not involve any complex settings.

The application can work directly with your current Windows installation or with installation kits on virtual image files. It can detect installed Windows systems on your hard drive and mounted image files with installation kits automatically. If you wish to start customizing an operating system, installed or otherwise, you will have to select it and click a button to load it.

New sections will be made available on the user interface, once you load a system. You can switch between these sections via navigation tabs, located on the left side of the window. They contain options for removing various Windows components, enabling or disabling miscellaneous features, updates and more.

All tweaks can be made just by clicking a series of check boxes. The available options are very well organized, so you won't have any problems finding something specific. When your settings are complete, you can review them in the final section of the interface, where you can also find an option for applying them.
